Microbiology Lab Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Microbiology Lab Technician to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will perform basic laboratory preparation work and contribute to a variety of microbiological tests. This role offers the opportunity to grow within a state-of-the-art Innovation Center.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic laboratory preparation work including making solutions of peptone and buffers for swabs.
  • Engage in plating and streaking techniques.
  • Pick up supplies and samples from the plant as needed.
  • Conduct various tests, such as pipetting, preparing agar with hot plates, autoclaving, sterilization, sanitation, and conducting plate counts for yeast, mold, and lactic bacteria.
  • Enter data accurately into Excel.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a related science field.
  • Understanding of aseptic techniques and plating and streaking methods.
  • Proficiency in microbiological skills gained through education or industry experience.
  • Capability to perform Petri film plating and use autoclaves.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in a laboratory setting with skills in pH and viscosity measurement.
  • Familiarity with the roles and responsibilities of a lab technician.

Work Environment

The position is based in a small microbiology lab with limited desk spaces, working closely with a team of three. The work schedule is first shift, Monday through Friday, and the dress code is business casual. The Innovation Center offers a beautiful and state-of-the-art environment with opportunities for long-term career growth.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Westerville, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $27.00/hr.
