As the Director of Artificial Intelligence, you set the vision for how AI transforms our business. You lead strategy, governance, and execution - turning emerging technologies into enterprise value. Responsibilities:
- Define and lead the enterprise AI strategy and roadmap, aligning priorities with business goals, operational needs, and BWE's BOLD transformation initiatives.
- Evaluate and select AI platforms, tools, and vendors with emphasis on scalable, secure, and user-empowered solutions (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, Power Platform, OpenAI, Claude).
- Build and maintain a prioritized AI portfolio of projects and use cases across business units, ensuring alignment with revenue generation and operational efficiency goals.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on AI opportunities, risks, investments, and competitive positioning in the marketplace.
- Lead the governance and ethics framework for AI use across the organization, partnering with BWEs AI Center to ensure responsible AI deployment.
- Collaborate with data, engineering, security, and business leaders to operationalize AI solutions while maintaining regulatory compliance and risk management standards.
- Drive the Scale Agentic AI BOLD initiative by identifying, prioritizing, and overseeing deployment of AI agents across core business functions.
- Partner with Head of AI Experience and Head of Change Acceleration to ensure successful AI adoption and user enablement across the organization.
- Research and evaluate emerging AI technologies and market trends to maintain BWE's competitive advantage and innovation leadership.
- Establish AI performance metrics and ROI measurement frameworks to demonstrate business value and guide investment decisions.
- Lead, coach, and develop AI team members while building organizational AI capabilities and technical expertise.
- Ensure AI implementations meet security, privacy, and regulatory requirements specific to the CRE industry.
Near-Term Deliverables:
- Conduct comprehensive AI readiness assessment across BWE identifying current capabilities, gaps, and strategic opportunities with prioritized implementation roadmap.
- Develop and implement AI governance framework addressing model risk management, data privacy, algorithmic bias, and ethical AI deployment standards.
- Launch Scale Agentic AI initiative by identifying and deploying 3-5 high-impact AI agents across origination, closing, and servicing workflows.
- Establish BWEs AI Center of Excellence with standardized processes, tools, and methodologies for AI project evaluation, development, and deployment.
- Research and recommend AI platform strategy including vendor selection, integration architecture, and cost optimization across multiple AI providers.
- Create AI performance measurement framework tracking business impact, user adoption, cost efficiency, and risk metrics with executive reporting.
- Partner with business leadership to identify and validate AI use cases that drive measurable improvements in revenue, efficiency, or customer experience.
- Develop AI talent acquisition and development strategy including skill requirements, training programs, and organizational capability building.
- Establish vendor relationships and strategic partnerships with key AI providers ensuring optimal pricing, support, and innovation access.
- Complete advanced AI leadership training and maintain awareness of emerging technologies relevant to financial services applications.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in data science, AI/ML, automation, or technology leadership roles with 3+ years in executive or senior leadership capacity.
- Proven experience deploying AI solutions in enterprise environments, preferably within Microsoft ecosystems and cloud platforms.
- Deep familiarity with Generative AI, machine learning pipelines, responsible AI frameworks, and enterprise automation technologies.
- Strong strategic thinking, cross-functional leadership, and executive-level stakeholder communication skills.
- Experience with AI governance, risk management, and regulatory compliance in enterprise environments.
- Knowledge of financial services industry regulations and AI risk management requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related technical field; advanced degree preferred.
- Demonstrated track record of building and leading high-performing technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Science, or related field.
- Experience in CRE, mortgage banking, or regulated industries with complex compliance requirements.
- Professional certifications in AI/ML platforms (Microsoft AI, AWS ML, Google Cloud AI) or related technologies.
- Previous experience leading digital transformation initiatives involving AI adoption and organizational change management.
- Knowledge of emerging AI technologies including agentic AI, multimodal AI, and AI orchestration platforms.
- Experience with AI vendor management, contract negotiation, and strategic partnership development.
- Track record of driving measurable business outcomes through AI implementation in enterprise environments.
