MANTECH seeks a motivated, career-oriented, and customer-focused Enterprise IT Support Officer (EITSO) - Network Installation Technician to join our team in Herndon, VA . In this role, you will support the deployment and installation of network infrastructure and endpoint equipment in a dynamic and mission-focused environment. You will work hands-on to ensure reliable connectivity, accurate equipment configuration, and successful project execution across classified workspaces.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Install and terminate CAT5/CAT6 and fiber cabling, including racks, patch panels, wall jacks, and related hardware.
- Perform cable pulls, terminations, pinouts, component installations, testing, and documentation with proper cable management.
- Install and configure workstations, rebuild desktops, relocate equipment, and install network drops per technical documentation.
- Read and interpret design packages, wiring schematics, port maps, and network diagrams to ensure accurate installations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues, workstation problems, and equipment malfunctions.
- Travel locally between customer buildings and support temporary assignments as required.
Work required shift from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM as part of a coverage team operating between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM.
Minimum Qualifications
- 6 years of relevant technician experience; OR a Bachelors degree can be substituted for 4 years experience; AND/OR any of the relevant certifications can be used as 6 months of experience: BICSI Installer 1 / Installer 2 (Copper & Fiber), Data Cabling Installer (DCI), Fiber Optics Installer (FOI), Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT), CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
- 2 years of hands-on experience supporting customer IT installations
- Experience installing and testing network drops, including labeling, dressing, and certifying connections.
- Knowledge of cabling methodologies, industry standards, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Experience installing IT endpoints such as desktops, printers, VOIP/digital phones, and network switches.
- Ability to resolve hardware, network, and telecom issues independently.
- Skilled in interpreting network diagrams, floor plans, and installation packages.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in IT hardware and structured cabling installation.
- Familiarity with LAN infrastructure implementation on the Sponsors network.
- Ability to quickly adapt to changing tasks and learn new skills on the job.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Clearance Requirements:
- Must have an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to remain stationary for at least 25% of the time.
- Ability to operate computers, phones, and standard office equipment for extended periods.
- Ability to move between offices and buildings, including under desks, raised floors, and server closets, some of which may be confined spaces.
- Ability to lift and move IT or AV equipment weighing 50+ pounds, using carts or team lifts as needed.
- Must be able to ascend/descend ladders (10+ feet) while pulling cables and adjusting equipment.
