We seek a Nurse Practitioner (FNP, AGNP, ENP or similar), or a Physician's Assistant in a Primary Care discipline (Family Medicine, General Medicine or similar). This position is a Part Time, employee position for 2 days per week, 8 hours per day (total of 16 hours weekly).
LOCATION: Buncombe County Detention Center, Asheville, NC
SCHEDULE: Two days per week, 8 hours per day (total of 16 hours per week). There is some flexibility on which Days you will work.
PAY: Starting at $64 per hour; pay rises contingent on experience.
The Nurse Practitioner, Physician's Assistant (BC), or Physician Associate (BC), will provide high-quality medical care to patients in a correctional healthcare setting. This role will collaborate with the full healthcare team and prescribe medications, perform procedures, and manage chronic conditions. The Nurse Practitioner or PA will also maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and facility policies.
How YOU can Make an Impact:
Provide high-quality, evidence-based medical care to inmates in accordance with established policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines.
Perform assessments, diagnose and treat patients, prescribe medication, and order appropriate tests.
Maintain confidentiality of patient medical information/history, upholding HIPAA regulations and medical ethics.
Participate in developing and implementing individualized treatment plans and ensure plans are followed.
Provide on-call services as needed, including after-hours care, as directed by the facility or company requirements.
Provide leadership to nursing and healthcare staff, promoting teamwork and cooperation among medical and correctional teams.
Support staff development through guidance, mentorship, and ongoing education to promote a high standard of care.
Promote good working relationships within the medical team and across other disciplines and departments to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
Approach changes positively, motivating the team to embrace improvements and accept constructive feedback to enhance the work environment.
Ensure adherence to quality assurance standards by consistently performing thorough and accurate clinical tasks.
Maintain professional standards and accountability for own conduct and appearance at all times.
Respect and follow the facility's safety, infection control, and operational policies, to ensure a safe and effective healthcare environment.
Collaborate with medical and correctional staff to ensure smooth operations, resolve issues, and enhance patient care delivery.
What we Ask of YOU:
A valid and unrestricted state license to practice in the your clinical role (e.g., ARNP, APRN, or PA) is required.
Must hold or be willing to obtain DEA registration.
Competence in diagnosis, treatment planning, and providing healthcare services in managed care or correctional facilities is highly preferred.
Must hold current CPR/BLS certification prior to Start Date (American Heart Association/American Red Cross guideline approved).
