Job Description

BWC's core hours of operation are Monday-Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm, however, daily start/end times may vary based on operational need across BWC departments. Most positions perform work on-site at one of BWC's seven offices across the state. BWC offers flex-time work schedules that allow an employee to start the day as early as 7:00am or as late as 8:30am. Flex-time schedules are based on operational need and require supervisor approval.

What You'll Be Doing:

Develop and implement long-term financial strategies aligned with BWC's mission.

Oversee and coordinate the activities of the investments and actuarial functions to ensure optimal financial performance, risk management, and compliance, while supporting strategic decision-making and long-term organizational goals.

Ensure that all financial activities adhere strictly to GAAP and GASB reporting standards.

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to produce and present financial reports to the BWC Board of Directors.

Promote continuous improvement and operational efficiency across all divisions within BWC.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field and a minimum of 7-10 years of experience as a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in a related industry, such as insurance with a proven track record of applying and overseeing Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

*Master's degree in accounting or CPA certification is highly preferred.

Major Worker Characteristics:

Knowledge of: business risk management; budgeting; claims reserving; manpower planning; economics & financial analysis; accounting; fiscal reporting; National Association of Insurance Commissioners laws, rules & regulations relative to reporting requirements; public relations; human relations; BWC policies & procedures relating to controller functions*; government structure; counseling; interviewing.

Skill in operation of a PC; MS Office Software*; BWC specific software pertaining to the controller section*.

Ability to: function in fiduciary capacity (i.e. pursuant to OAC 123:1-5-01 Unclassified service)**; deal with many variable & determine specific action; use statistical analysis; understand most difficult concepts relating to fiscal analysis; prepare & deliver speeches before specialized audiences & general public; prepare meaningful, concise & accurate & extremely complex financial reports; use proper research methods in gathering data; handle sensitive inquiries from & contacts with officials & general public.
