Key Responsibilities
- Employee Investigations: Lead the review, documentation, and resolution of workplace complaints and investigations
- Compliance & Policy: Ensure HR policies align with current employment law and are consistently applied
- Disciplinary Process: Oversee all formal disciplinary actions and ensure fair, timely documentation
- Offboarding & Risk Management: Manage sensitive terminations and offboarding processes in a compliant, compassionate manner
- Manager Coaching: Serve as a key partner to leaders navigating complex personnel situations, including legal exposure and conflict
- Mediation & Conflict Resolution: Lead or coordinate efforts to resolve interpersonal issues across teams and locations
- Documentation & Reporting: Build consistent, accurate documentation and maintain audit-ready employee relations records
Qualifications
- 10+ years in HR or employment law, with at least 5+ years in a leadership role focused on employee relations or labor compliance
- Strong knowledge of California and federal labor regulations
- Exceptional ability to manage investigations, assess risk, and apply sound judgment
- Experience in developing scalable ER policies in a high-growth or healthcare setting
- Excellent communication, discretion, and objectivity in sensitive conversations
- Proven track record of building trust with managers and staff in difficult moments
- Reduced employment-related risk and litigation exposure
- Manager confidence in navigating ER processes
- Fair and consistent application of discipline and investigations
- Timely closure of ER cases with transparent outcomes
