Job Description

Multiple positions open at the Alton Campus and the O’Fallon Campus.

Since the 1990s, CALC Institute of Technology has been dedicated to a single mission: transforming lives through high-quality, career-focused education. As a family-owned institution, our strength lies in our passionate educators. We are seeking dedicated and inspirational nurse educators to join our team and impart your knowledge to aspiring practical nurses.

This is first and foremost a teaching position. Your primary role is to educate, mentor, and guide students through their journey to become skilled LPNs. You will translate your extensive clinical experience into dynamic classroom, lab, and clinical instruction, creating a learning environment that is both challenging and supportive. If you are passionate about pedagogy and ready to make a direct impact on the future of healthcare, we invite you to bring your expertise to our classroom.

Primary Teaching Responsibilities

  • Classroom & Lab Instruction: Prepare and deliver engaging, well-organized lessons and hands-on lab demonstrations that clearly articulate complex nursing concepts and skills. Foster an interactive learning environment that encourages critical thinking and student participation.
  • Student Assessment & Evaluation: Develop, administer, and grade examinations, quizzes, and practical skills assessments. Provide students with constructive, timely feedback on their academic and clinical performance to facilitate their growth.
  • Curriculum Development: Actively contribute to the development and refinement of course syllabi, lesson plans, and instructional materials to ensure they meet all Illinois Board of Nursing (IBON) and Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE) standards and reflect current best practices in nursing.
  • Clinical Education: Supervise and instruct students during their clinical rotations, focusing on the practical application of theoretical knowledge, safety protocols, and professional behavior in a real-world healthcare setting.
  • Student Mentorship: Act as an academic advisor and mentor, providing guidance, support, and encouragement to students from diverse backgrounds. Promote a positive, inclusive, and professional learning atmosphere.
  • Educational Technology: Effectively use the institution’s Learning Management System (LMS) to manage course content, track student progress, and facilitate communication.

Basic Qualifications (Mandatory Requirements)

  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution. This is a non-negotiable requirement for our accrediting bodies.
  • Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Illinois.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of recent, full-time direct patient care experience as an RN.
  • A genuine passion for teaching and a demonstrated ability to explain complex topics clearly and effectively.
  • A commitment to upholding the highest academic and ethical standards in line with IBON, IBHE, and institutional policies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior teaching experience in a nursing program; familiarity with adult learning theory and methodologies is a significant advantage.
  • Experience as a clinical preceptor, mentoring new nurses or nursing students.
  • Proficiency in areas such as medical-surgical nursing, acute care, or pediatrics.
  • Strong skills in lesson planning, curriculum development, and student evaluation.

Why You’ll Love Teaching Here

At CALC, we value our educators. We provide the resources and supportive environment you need to focus on what you do best: teach. As a family-owned school, we foster a collaborative culture where your voice is heard and your contributions to our curriculum and student success are deeply valued.

Our benefits for faculty include:

  • Focus on Teaching: A role designed around instruction and student interaction.
  • Professional Growth: Support for continuing education, conference attendance, and professional development to enhance your teaching skills.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Health, dental, and vision insurance options.
  • Rewarding Impact: The incredible satisfaction of seeing your students succeed, pass the NCLEX-PN, and embark on their nursing careers, knowing you were their guide.
