VPI (formerly Valley Packaging Industries) is a nonprofit organization based in Wisconsin that has been serving the community since 1956. While it began as a provider of contract packaging services, its mission has always centered around empowering individuals with disabilities and disadvantages through inclusive employment and community support programs. VPI’s community programs are a cornerstone of its mission. These initiatives are designed to support individuals across all stages of life, with services that promote independence, inclusion, and personal growth. Key areas include: Early Intervention, Education & Employment Services, Adult Day Services, and Mental Health & Social Services.

"A typical day for me entails traveling to a job site and coaching someone with differing needs to help them maintain their employment. What this looks like varies by client. Some need physical modeling and examples, some just need a few words of explanation. As the parent of someone with special needs, this job has taught me patience. Everyone is so different anx we all have varying needs. The management is amazing. I can't say a single negative thing about them. My direct supervisor is the best boss I have ever had. He is empathetic, as you would hope for this role, but also knows exactly when to "get serious." The workplace culture is fabulous. Sometimes instead of working in the community I get the chance to work in "production" at our Kensington facility. This can involve both coaching (many of the employees at Valley Packaging have differing needs) and packaging line work. I have honestly never met a single crabby manager/supervisor. The hardest part of the job is that every now and then, things don't go the way you would hope or expect. Flexibility is an important trait. The most enjoyable part is easy- I get to make a difference is some amazing people's lives."
