Though founded in 2004, Trade Team comes from a rich industrial tradition dating back to 1875 when Charles J. Colonna first started a marine repair company in Virginia. That company would later be known as Colonna’s Shipyard, the oldest continuous family owned and operated private shipyard in the United States. Started by Willoughby Warren Colonna, Jr., the current owner of Colonna’s Shipyard, Trade Team was originally setup to provide temporary skilled labor to the Colonna yard and other local Virginia industrial businesses. However, over the years the company’s success has led it to open multiple locations across the United States. With the growth of Trade Team, the company had to separate from the Colonna ownership, but we retain the extensive knowledge of trades and leadership that was gifted to us and has made us so successful over the years.
