SNAP-NC (The Spay Neuter Assistance Program of NC, Inc.) is an exciting, well-established private non-profit with tremendous public support. We have been working very successfully in Central NC for 23 years, and have the support of the Veterinary Medical Board, the State Veterinarian, and numerous colleagues that refer patients and clients to us not just because we are lower cost, but because we provide an excellent service and a top notch spay/neuter surgery! We perform approximately 11,000 high quality surgeries per year and offer basic wellness care to those same patients (core vaccines / HW and Felv/FIV testing / flea & tick control) and we take every opportunity to educate our clients in an effort to elevate the pets' status in the family and ensure that they get ongoing veterinary care for the rest of their lives. This is critical since our surveys find that 86% of the pets that we see have never been to a vet before.


Company History
SNAP-NC was started in 2000 with one small van and just 3 employees. We have grown to have two large LaBoit hospitals that are 33' long and on Freightliner chassis. The hospitals have 28 kennels of various sizes to accommodate all sizes of dogs and cats. Each hospital is staffed by a veterinarian and 2-3 veterinary assistants. We also have two exceptional office staff who schedule all of the appointments for both hospitals. We receive over 300 phone calls daily from pet owners wanting to access our service! Note that our directive is that we provide an excellent service and a high quality spay or neuter. We are not here to be heroes and therefore, it is the doctor's call what pet is a good candidate for surgery - we do not accept high risk patients. We also handle our own emergency calls - the Director carries an "emergency phone". You may be asked to take that phone a few times a year if the Director is going to be out of town. Otherwise, the calls are answered and if a recheck is needed, it is scheduled with our team. True, life threatening emergencies are rare, but in such an event, it would be referred to area emergency clinics. Your nights and weekends are your own!
