Riverview Psychiatric Center, in collaboration with the community, is a center for best practice, treatment, education, and research for individuals with serious and persistent mental illness and co-occurring disorders.

Our 92-bed State of Maine inpatient psychiatric hospital provides patients with state-of-the-art care utilizing innovative solutions and national collaborations. As part of our commitment to reducing the use of seclusion and restraints, RPC emphasizes proactive and innovative approaches that include identifying early stages of agitation and utilizing de-escalation tools with our specialized Behavior Response Options (BRO) training.

In addition, our curriculum, of over 70 offered psycho-educational groups, therapy groups and structured recreational groups, are based on the patient's individualized treatment plans and reflect their changing needs. These groups reflect individualized therapeutic goals for each participant, address the reason for admission, improve skill deficits, and enhance participant ability to reside in a less restrictive community environment.
