Our doctors at Commonwealth Oral and Facial Surgery & Dental Implant Center are dedicated to providing patients with the highest quality care in a pleasant environment. Surgical procedures are performed utilizing state-of-the-art technology. Our staff of surgical assistants, insurance specialists, schedulers, and administrative coordinators are committed to offering exceptional service.
We employ 46 surgical and administrative staff to supplement the seven doctors and seven office locations, including a dedicated call center. Commonwealth Oral and Facial Surgery & Dental Implant Center serves a broad area of patients extending from Harleysville in northern Montgomery County to Chestnut Hill in Philadelphia to Quakertown in Bucks County. The staff are trained in assisting with IV sedation within our state-of-the-art office setting.

The surgical staff at Commonwealth Oral and Facial Surgery & Dental Implant Center are experienced, certified oral and maxillofacial surgical assistants who administer IV sedation and surgery. All staff members are informed, administrative personnel are well-versed in medical and dental insurance policies, and all surgical staff members are CPR-certified.

Meet the Doctors
Drs. Spampata, Deasy, Hersh, Wallis, Sommer, Zega, and Brennan
Dr. Spampata is a magna cum laude graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo. He graduated from the Harvard University School of Dental Medicine cum laude with a thesis. Dr. Spampata completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at Sinai Hospital in Detroit. During dental school and residency, Dr. Spampata conducted research in bone grafting and reconstruction. Dr. Spampata is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and he served as President of the Pennsylvania Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons in 2001-2002. Dr. Spampata is also a Diplomate of the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology and he served on the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Examination Committee from 2016-2023. Dr. Spampata also acts on behalf of the state board of dentistry and the Pennsylvania Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons as an evaluator of oral and maxillofacial surgeons, within the state of Pennsylvania, who provide General Anesthesia or IV sedation to their patients. From 1993 – 2003 Dr. Spampata was the Clinical Assistant Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Spampata currently resides in Montgomery County with his wife, 2 children and 3 chihuahuas.
Dr. Richard Deasy is a graduate of LaSalle High School, LaSalle College and Temple University School of Dentistry. After graduation from Temple University, Dr. Deasy completed a General Practice Residence at The Medical College of Georgia. This was followed by six years of private practice in general dentistry prior to oral maxillofacial surgery training at Hahnemann University Hospital. Dr. Deasy is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a member in good standing of The American Dental Association, as well as The American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and The American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Dr. Bradley Hersh is a graduate of the University of Maryland with a degree in Neurobiology and Physiology. He then received a D.M.D degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Hersh completed his four year Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. After finishing residency Dr. Hersh was in private practice in Cherry Hill, New Jersey prior to joining Commonwealth Oral and Facial Surgery & Dental Implant Center. Dr. Hersh is a member of the Pennsylvania Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Hersh resides in Montgomery County with his wife, Amy. In his spare time Dr. Hersh enjoys traveling, cooking, sports, and exploring the city of brotherly love.
Dr. Wallis is a graduate of the University of Delaware with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences and a Master’s Degree in Cell and Organ System Physiology. He then received his D.M.D degree from the Temple University School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Wallis was an Oral Surgery Intern at Drexel University and he completed a four-year Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Following residency Dr. Wallis was in private practice in Cherry Hill, New Jersey prior to joining Commonwealth Oral and Facial Surgery & Dental Implant Center. You will no doubt find Dr. Wallis to be a personable and caring individual who will certainly become an asset to our practice at Commonwealth Oral and Facial Surgery & Dental Implant Center and to our dental community. He has received excellent training and he is highly skilled in all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery. Dr. Wallis is a member of the Pennsylvania Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Wallis resides in Ambler with his wife Jessica, their two cats and daughter Tessa and son Ian.
Dr. Michael Sommer received his Bachelor’s of Arts from the University of Richmond graduating magna cum laude. He received a D.D.S. degree from New York University College of Dentistry, graduating with Omicron Kappa Upsilon honors. Dr. Sommer completed his four year Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. Dr. Sommer is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons as well as the Pennsylvania Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He currently resides in Philadelphia with his wife, Mia, son, Levi, and dog, Alfie. In his spare time, he enjoys playing tennis, running and traveling.
Dr. Alex Zega is thrilled to be coming home to Montgomery County to join Commonwealth Oral Surgery. She has spent the last four years in New York training at Montefiore Medical Center in comprehensive oral and maxillofacial surgery, including pediatric oral surgery, extractions, pathology, facial trauma, anesthesia/sedation, and implant and bone-grafting procedures. Montefiore has a nationwide reputation for excellence in dentoalveolar surgery, especially implants. Dr. Zega holds a Bachelor of Science degree with honors in biology from Brown University. She studied implant infection prevention for her honors thesis. She earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania, graduating with honors in oral surgery, community service and research and was inducted into the national dental honors society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon. Dr. Zega has completed research on Botox treatment of facial muscles and infection prevention on implants. She has presented at multiple conferences on topics including the treatment of benign recurrent pathology. Dr. Zega is committed to the highest standards of quality surgical care, with an emphasis on comfort, attention to detail, and safety. She is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the American Dental Association. She is a candidate for the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Zega lives in Ambler with her golden retriever, Willa. In her free time, she enjoys traveling (51 countries and counting!), trying new restaurants, cooking, and reading. She is excited to be back in Montgomery County and join the Commonwealth team.
Dr. Brennan earned degrees in science and art history from the University of Notre Dame before pursuing dentistry at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. Her passion for medicine and surgery led her to complete an internship and a six-year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. During her residency, she also earned her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Board-certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dr. Brennan is also a diplomate and the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology. She is a fellow of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and holds membership in the American Dental Association, the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the Academy of Osseointegration. Committed to lifelong learning, she regularly attends professional conferences. Dr. Brennan also evaluates oral and maxillofacial surgeons providing IV sedation and general anesthesia in Pennsylvania, working in collaboration with the Pennsylvania Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, especially to Italy and U.S. National Parks, and spending time with her husband, three sons, and extended family.
