*This position is on-site in Minneapolis, MN. We are currently working in a hybrid manner due to COVID, but in-person work is the norm when possible. This is not a remote position. We are serious about the health and safety of our employees, and we will continue to work hybrid as long as required.*

Job Description
Cafe Imports is seeking motivated, forward-thinking, and collaborative individuals to apply for our Staff Accountant role. In this position, you will support our global international transactions by working in foreign currencies across multi-entities as well as engaging with 3rd party international accountants. Responsibilities will include AR invoicing, AP vendor payments, bank reconciliations, general ledger, document collections and account reconciliations. This position will be a key contributor on the accounting team and the ongoing success of the business.

Responsibilities:
• Processing foreign currency transactions for AR, AP and month end
• Provide supporting schedules and participate in the preparation of uploading information to international accountants,
• Monitor daily foreign currency cash balances
• Establish strong working relationships with the international external accountants to include reconciliation of their monthly activities
• Able to work in multi-company/multi-currency environment
• Monitor, review and verify accounting records and transactions for accuracy, timeliness and adequacy of supporting documentation
• Assist in month end close process including revaluation of foreign currency transactions
• Assist with periodic VAT audits and other requested data as needed
• Coordinate accounting matters with other departments, proactively seeking out coaching feedback with an open mind and eagerness to learn
• Complete special projects and other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting or related fields
• Excellent understanding of accounting rules and procedures including the GAAP Principles
o 2-3 years progressive experience
o Or 0-2 years relevant experience and a 3.3 Minimum GPA- transcripts requested
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office products with advanced knowledge of Excel
• Self-motivated and driven – strives to deliver great results and drive continuous improvement, gets things done
• Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability, thrives in a changing and/or fast paced environment
• Strong time-management, analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:
• International business experience with foreign currency exposure and regulatory requirements
• Requires strong verbal and written communication skills, with ability to work effectively with all levels and functions
• Ability to connect with people - fosters strong partnerships, interacts well with employees at all levels
• Ability to think critically – recognize connections, translates goals into action uses strong judgement to make choices in alignment with strategy and company culture/values
• Demonstrates curiosity and courage – has an interest in learning and understanding “whys”, asks questions, shares his/her point of view
• International travel experience
