Mountain Discovery is an experiential learning, Public Charter School nestled into the Great Smoky Mountains in the charming mountain town of Bryson City, North Carolina and staffed by a collection of dedicated, creative and passionate educators. At MDCS, we believe that empowering our students empowers our community. The students of Mountain Discovery are engaged in an experientially rich, hands-on course of study developed to maximize each child’s potential to become a responsible citizen of the local and global communities. Parents, students, teachers, and staff are dedicated to: 1) fostering individual learning styles, 2) nurturing and facilitating our children’s natural abilities to think creatively and critically, and 3) promoting self-confidence through respect for self, others and the environment.
