Dear Prospective Candidate,
I am Dr. Christian Gillespie, and I serve as the Director of Mental Health Operations & Clinical Services for Wexford Health Sources, Inc.
Our company provides quality correctional healthcare services statewide to incarcerated patients throughout the Illinois Department of Corrections. Our mental health services are all encompassing. We provide mental health screenings to every incarcerated individual who enters our facilities, as well as full diagnostic evaluations, individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, and supportive services to each of our patients in need. We are able to provide these comprehensive mental healthcare services utilizing our team of astute mental health professionals.
Our team members are not only qualified, highly skilled, and remarkably talented; they also have a passion for helping underserved populations. Our diverse patients come from a variety of cultural backgrounds with various levels of mental illness spanning the continuum from simple adjustment disorders to severe psychopathology. What kind of patients do you prefer to work with and try to help? If you join our team of correctional health care professionals, you will have opportunities to work with and gain exposure to any clinical disposition you could possibly desire.
I will readily admit that I was not always planning for a career in correctional health care. I enjoyed my previous positions working in outpatient and college counseling centers. When I started working for Wexford Health Sources, Inc. in 2013 as a Qualified Mental Health Professional; it was actually the competitive benefits package offered that played a significant role in my initial exploration of this as a new career path. What I did not anticipate was falling in love with working in a correctional health care setting, though that is precisely what happened. Through Wexford Health, I was afforded opportunities to work with many patients who have complex trauma histories, and come from families with generations of untreated mental illness. I take pride in my work to re-instill accountability and hope in individuals who have often lost all support and hope for themselves. I quickly learned that the stakes for these patients were higher than most, as the treatment we provide is often essential to contributing to their preparedness to function with healthy independence and their successful reintegration back into society. Daily opportunities to significantly impact the lives of these patients have been immensely fulfilling, and are often met by patients with sincere gratitude. That said, I remain grateful that I said, “goodbye” to the routine and monotony of my previous positions. I chose a career in correctional health care where I am not only compensated well for my clinical and professional investment; but every day continues to feel like a new adventure with a wide range of systemic and clinical issues to explore and address - truly making a difference.
If you are open to a new and exciting career opportunity and are interested in hearing more about the prospect of joining our team, we would love an opportunity to speak with you and further explore your interests. Perhaps (just like me), the career you never knew you would love with Wexford Health is just within your grasp. Don’t miss this remarkable and lucrative career opportunity.
