UC Davis Health and its Children’s Hospital are among the proud honorees this year, bringing in some well-deserved national honors for website design.

The health system’s homepage garnered a Silver Award for Best Internet Home Page (in the Healthcare System category). Likewise, UC Davis Children’s Hospital was honored with a Silver Award for its Best Internet Home Page (in the Hospital Subsite/Center of Excellence category).

The honors are part of this year’s eHealthcare Leadership Awards presented by Plain-English Health Care, a company serving marketers, strategists, communicators, executives and more at hospitals, health systems, physician groups and other health care organizations.

“Our digital team works tirelessly to provide the health system with best in design guidance, education and technical support,” said Vicki Bencken, the health system’s digital communications director. “Being among the pool of this year’s awardees, which include fellow UC health campuses and other prestigious health care organizations around the country, is very gratifying."

The website successes, added Bencken, "are due to a collaborative team effort of designers, developers and Web specialists, as well as content owners and editors in the many different academic and clinical departments who work together to deliver great websites for our audiences.”

The awards program, which draws approximately 1,000 entries each year, recognizes the very best websites and digital communications of health care organizations (both large and small), as well as online health companies, pharmaceutical/ medical equipment firms, agencies and suppliers, and business improvement initiatives.

An independent panel of judges familiar with health care and digital communications evaluated each entry. The awards are designed to highlight the internet's role in achieving an organization's business objectives, recognizing the work that has gone into creating outstanding health websites and digital initiatives.

UC Davis Health and the other winners also appear in this month’s issue of eHealthcare Strategies and Trends magazine.
