Ours is a caring profession. At Lexington Hospital for Cats, we take caring to a new level. It begins with a basic love for our patients. We love cats! It continues with the delight of working with gentle, motivated, compassionate, educated staff members and ends with a true respect and concern for the needs of our clients.
Regardless of their needs, we want owners and cats to leave our hospital feeling fulfilled in every way. We understand that each cat brought to this practice is special. He or she is someone’s best friend. We appreciate and value the bond between the owner and pet.
LHFC was the first American Association of Feline Practitioners designated gold standard Cat Friendly Practice® in Kentucky. Dr. Alice Mills, owner, received the Distinguished Service Award from the Kentucky Veterinary Medical Association (KVMA) and Woman Business Owner of the Year Award from the local chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners in 2013. Dr. Mills was one of many feline practitioners who worked to establish board certification in feline practice though the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners.
LHFC has financially supported local schools, Actor’s Guild, Operation Read, Central Kentucky Youth Orchestra, and local humane organizations. LHFC founded and was the primary sponsor of Catapalooza at Lexington Humane Society (LHS) held in June to honor National Adopt-A-Cat Month and to celebrate all things cat. LHFC holds a donation drive between Thanksgiving and the New Year to support the cats and Project Purrfect at LHS. LHFC worked with Eagles Landing Pet Hospital in Morehead, KY to collect donations and aid for small animals in Mennifee County impacted by a March 2, 2012 tornado. In 2011, LHFC was recognized by the CATalayst Council as a veterinary hospital that is working with their local shelter and making a difference. When hurricane Sandy flooded New York City, LHFC collected donations for the Humane Society of New York and working with Big Ass Fans and Pilot Freight, sent 10 pallets of donated cat supplies and food to the humane society to distribute to distressed cat owners and to use in the overwhelmed shelter within 5 days after the storm surge.
