Position Overview
We are seeking an expert, hands-on Production Manager to lead our fast-paced CNC machine shop specializing in both rapid-turn prototype development and low-to-medium volume production. This role is responsible for the entire life cycle of job scheduling, shop floor execution, shop floor to quality department coordination, and customer delivery.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience running a high-precision CNC shop floor, possesses elite scheduling capabilities, and is obsessed with maximizing spindle uptime, workflow efficiency, and meeting strict customer deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
Shop Floor Leadership: Oversee daily operations of the CNC machine shop, directly managing machinists, programmers, and setup technicians. Cultivate a culture of accountability, safety, and precision.
Elite Scheduling & Flow: Utilize ERP/MRP systems to plan, prioritize, and optimize the daily and weekly production schedules. Balance urgent, high-priority prototype jobs with long-run production parts without missing a beat.
Process Optimization: Implement Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement practices to reduce setups, eliminate bottlenecks, and maximize machine throughput.
End-to-End Fulfillment: Manage the entire internal supply chain and logistics to ensure on-time delivery to the customer.
Maintenance: Oversee preventive maintenance schedules for all CNC equipment to eliminate unplanned downtime.
Client & Vendor Interface: Communicate technical or delivery timelines clearly to the executive team and, when necessary, directly to clients.
Qualifications
Experience: 5+ years of direct management or supervisory experience strictly within a CNC machining environment. Proven track record running both prototype and production workflows.
Technical Savvy: Deep understanding of multi-axis CNC milling, turning, programming workflows (CAM/CAD), and tooling.
Scheduling Mastery: Strong expertise using ERP/MRP systems for capacity planning and floor scheduling.
Leadership Style: A firm but collaborative manager who is not afraid to jump onto the floor to solve a technical issue.
Relocation: Must be willing to permanently relocate to the Northern Colorado area.
Salary & Bonus Range (Depending On Experience)
Base Salary Range: $85,000 – $95,000 / year (Depending on the exact complexity of your machinery, e.g., 5-axis mills vs. standard 3-axis, lathes, etc).
Performance Bonus: 10% – 15% of base salary, typically tied to shop throughput, on-time delivery (OTD) rates, and margin retention.
Total Target Compensation: $93,500 – $110,000
Relocation Package: Offering up to $5,000 relocation assistance
