Job Summary
The Payroll Specialist will process weekly payroll and maintain employee time records.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Enters, maintains, and/or processes information in the payroll system; information may include employees’ hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, and other information.
- Process weekly timecards using payroll software, handling calculations, and ensuring accurate posting and updates.
- Maintain accurate and confidential payroll files, employee records, time records, and supporting documentation for records retention policies, audits and regulatory inquiries.
- Partners with the Controller and Senior Payroll Specialist to facilitate seamless departmental processes and uphold labor compliance standards.
- Support payroll audits (internal & external) by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries.
- Perform additional payroll or administrative duties as needed to support accounting department.

Skills and Abilities
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy in large volume data entry
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll software.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality as appropriate to the position.
- Ability to multi-task
Knowledge
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures and terminology.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1-3 years of experience in payroll processing
- Prior experience processing high-volume weekly payroll a plus.
- Experience with LCPTracker, Elations, or other certified payroll platforms a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
