Entry Level Sawmill Production Worker

Our sawmill produces premium red spruce and hardwood tonewoods used in our guitars and supplied to respected luthiers worldwide.  Blending traditional craftsmanship with modern milling practices, our small, skilled sawmill team plays a direct role in shaping the quality, consistency, and artistry Bourgeois Guitars is known for.

Bourgeois Guitars is seeking an Entry-Level Production Worker to support the processing of red spruce and hardwood logs into high-quality, instrument-grade tonewood. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, learning skilled craftsmanship, and contributing to a collaborative production environment. On-the-job training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in processing red spruce and hardwood logs into instrument-grade tonewood.
• Support daily sawmill operations, including basic equipment operation, material handling, and maintaining production workflow.
• Perform visual quality inspections of wood products and learn proper cutting, grading, and handling techniques.
• Safely handle raw materials, finished products, and tools in accordance with company procedures.
• Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors to help meet daily production goals.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all safety guidelines and participate in required training.

Qualificiations Required

• Ability to perform physical work in an active mill or production environment.
• Capable of standing for extended periods, lifting materials, and working safely around industrial equipment.
• Strong attention to detail; material quality directly impacts final instrument performance and craftsmanship.
• Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Willingness to follow all safety policies, procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
• Ability to support daily production goals while contributing positively to overall team workflow.
• Basic problem-solving skills and the ability to learn proper processing and handling techniques through training.

Ideal Candidates (Preferred)

• Previous experience in woodworking, carpentry, sawmill, lumberyard, or manufacturing environments (preferred, not required).
• Forklift experience or current certification is a plus.
• Mechanical aptitude or prior experience assisting with equipment operation or basic maintenance.
• Reliable transportation and a strong record of consistent attendance.
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a team.
• Genuine interest in woodworking, craftsmanship, and craftbased manufacturing.
