Brown & Brown is s eeking a Staff Accountant to join our growing team in Atlanta, GA!
The Staff Accountant is responsible for all aspects of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, financial forecasting and budgeting, and account reconciliations.
How You Will Contribute :
Perform daily general ledger operations, journal entries, and account reconciliations
Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing and reporting processes
Prepare Bank Reconciliations and resolve any bank issues
Identify financial variances by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans, forecasts and prior year
Ensure general ledger accounts are maintained in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Perform monthly account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
Identify opportunities for performance improvement across the organization
Review and approve expense reports
Maintain/update fixed asset roster within Workday
Compile and analyzes financial information for the organization
Assist in developing the budget and support in FP&A
Assist with training and creating standardized procedures for the region
Support in monthly/quarterly compliance control self-assessments
Maintain security by following internal controls and segregation of duties
Provide support for audits by preparing required documentation and explanations
Promote teamwork among teammates, finance, sales, and operational groups and departments
Prepare management ad-hoc reporting and analysis as needed
Beyond the primary responsibilities noted above, this role will also include cross-training and other additional tasks, as assigned
Skills & Experience to Be Successful :
Bachelor's Degree (B.A) from four-year college or university with an accounting or finance concentration, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proficient with MS Office Suite.
A minimum of 3 years experience in accounting is required
Must have good planning and organizational skills
Must be highly skilled in dealing with financial and numeric data
Ability to multi-task and perform expectations in a highly stressful environment
Must have excelled work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal departmental pressures
Must have good communication skills
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
Professional and friendly attitude and mannerism
