Functions as a clinical expert and is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing or supervising direct patient care. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates delivery of care based on age specific components. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. They demonstrate sound decision-making and judgment interpersonal skills.

The Nurse Nurse Manager (NM) is the designated first-line supervisory authority and is responsible and accountable for the operation of the House Float Pool. The NM is responsible and accountable for the direction and supervision of day to day scheduling, compliance, clinic specific orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff

performance. The NM will work directly with other clinical Nurse Managers to identify staffing needs across the facility.

Functions as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing

leadership to the team. Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the

interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement new evidence-based cutting-edge

programs/processes.

The NM engages in professional organizations to enhance leadership and career growth.

Adheres to ethical principles in decision-making, fostering accountability at personal,

organizational, and staff levels. Equips staff with tools for competent care and promotes an

environment of accountability for high-quality, cost-effective outcomes. Promotes alliances

across the care continuum, building trust through active listening, engagement, and emotional

intelligence.

The NM contributes to the development of care delivery models and environmental design,

ensuring evidence-based, accessible, affordable, and equitable patient care.

Ensures compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards. Aligns nursing and clinical objectives with organizational strategic outcomes, participating in strategy planning and execution.

Promotes a workplace positively to achieve the organization's vision and mission.

The incumbent is responsible to the assigned rating and approving supervisors and is

accountable to the Chief Nurse of Clinical Operations.

Dimensions Of Nursing Practice but not limited to:

  • Demonstrates expertise in professional practice using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) with improved evidence-based and/or data-driven outcomes beyond the immediate practice setting.
  • Leads initiatives to improve Veteran/patient experience, satisfaction and/or safety beyond the immediate practice setting.
  • Communicates and collaborates as an effective leader of the interprofessional team, at the expert level, with improved evidence-based and/or data-driven outcomes beyond the immediate practice setting.
  • Enhance knowledge base and practice evaluation, at the expert level, with improved outcomes beyond the immediate practice setting.
  • Leads the identification and integration of evidence-based practice/research with clinical expertise to improve quality of care and resource utilization at the expert level with improved outcomes beyond the immediate practice setting.
  • Provides care and/or services appropriate to the age of the patients being served, and which is appropriate to the cognitive; emotional, and chronological maturation of the patient
