Introduction
Our client is a hospital seeking a Medical Director to lead their full-service small animal practice. The hospital provides comprehensive medical, surgical, and dental care for dogs and cats, while also serving as licensed wildlife rehabilitators caring for injured birds, rabbits, and small wildlife. This opportunity is designed for an experienced veterinarian who is motivated by excellent medicine, thoughtful leadership, and a collaborative team culture, while remaining clinically active.
Working Hours / Rota
The position offers full-time or part-time flexibility. The hospital operates Monday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Tuesday from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm, Wednesday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Thursday from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm, and Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The hospital is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
Role Description and Responsibilities
As Medical Director, you will provide high-quality medical and surgical care while guiding medical standards and fostering a collaborative, mentorship-focused environment. You will remain clinically active, performing surgery, dentistry, diagnostics, wellness care, and preventive medicine. Leadership responsibilities include mentoring associate veterinarians and technicians, supporting professional development, collaborating with an engaged leadership team, and ensuring evidence-based medical protocols are upheld. The role emphasizes clinical autonomy, sustainable scheduling, and maintaining consistently high standards of patient care. This position is open to experienced veterinarians.
Practice Details
This well-established hospital has served its community for more than 40 years and is recognized as one of the highest-rated veterinary hospitals in the area. The facility is fully paperless and equipped with in-house IDEXX laboratory equipment, digital radiography, ultrasound, and digital dental radiography. Separate, fully equipped surgery and dental suites support efficient workflow and high-quality care. A rotating relief surgeon joins twice monthly, providing additional surgical expertise and ongoing learning opportunities. Services include Wildlife Rehabilitation, Dental Care, Nutrition, Surgery, Wellness & Preventative Care, Microchipping, Diagnostics, and Vaccinations.

The hospital is supported by 4 DVMs and a great tenured support team, operating with a strong 2:1 technician-to-doctor ratio, fostering a collaborative, mentorship-driven culture focused on professional growth and high medical standards.
Candidate Requirements
- Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
- Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
