Introduction
A full-service, AAHA-accredited small animal hospital in Corvallis, Oregon is seeking a Medical Director to lead its team of veterinarians and support staff. This opportunity combines clinical excellence with leadership, mentoring, and practice management, allowing you to shape both the medical vision and team culture of a well-established 24/7 hospital.
Working Hours / Rota
The hospital provides emergency care 24/7/365 and operates general practice services Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Medical Director will work a flexible schedule that balances leadership responsibilities with clinical caseload.
Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director will oversee clinical standards, ensure high-quality patient care, and mentor associate veterinarians. Responsibilities include providing strategic direction, guiding medical protocols, supporting recruitment and retention, and collaborating with the Practice Manager on annual planning and hospital performance. The role combines hands-on clinical work with leadership, with a strong focus on building a positive, team-driven environment.
Practice Details
The hospital is equipped with advanced diagnostic and treatment technology, including digital radiography, digital dental radiography, ultrasound, CO laser, therapy laser, Snyder oxygen cage, blood products, and a full in-house laboratory. A dedicated team of ER and ICU technicians ensures excellent patient support, while a 3:1 staff-to-doctor ratio allows veterinarians to practice at the top of their profession.
Team
You will join a collaborative group of eight veterinarians supported by experienced technicians and administrative staff. The culture emphasizes mentorship, teamwork, and professional growth, ensuring both medical excellence and a healthy work-life balance.
Candidate Requirements
- Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
- Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
