Carry out critical tech solutions across multiple technical areas as an integral part of an agile team

As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer & Community Banking Deposits platform, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firms business objectives.

Job responsibilities

  • Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
  • Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
  • Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
  • Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience
  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Experience using Java, spring based technologies and event based microservices in AWS / Cloud environment
  • Experience with distributed systems and cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.)
  • Experience with micro services/RESTful API, relational/NoSQL databases, data modeling and data ingestion frameworks
  • Hands-on experience with data streaming and messaging frameworks (Kafka, Spark, etc.)
  • Understanding of dependency injection frameworks (Spring / Spring Boot, etc.)
  • Be an active developer and contributor to the teams delivery. Take the lead on solving and implementing difficult technology challenges and drive our team to successful delivery
  • Understanding of containers (Dockers, Kubernetes, Helm, etc.)
  • Expand unit testing automation suite capabilities by integrating tests into CI/CD pipeline; ensuring 100% documentation & unit testing of all code delivered
  • Hands-on development experience working with core enterprise-based Java technologies

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Cloud certification. Practical cloud native experience
  • In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
  • Lead and mentor engineers. Work closely with development, QA, and operations teams to integrate performance testing and automation into the software development lifecycle
  • Design and implement robust automation frameworks and tools to support continuous integration and delivery
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies in performance testing and automation
