SEASONAL MAINTENANCE WORKER
Seasonal workers will be asked to assist full time staff during the busy spring and summer months. Duties include mowing, edging, flower planting, mulching, painting and other duties required by department staff.
PURPOSE: Complete all duties and responsibilities associated with the maintenance, construction, and renovation of parks, playgrounds, athletic facilities, buildings, swimming pools, natural areas, tennis courts, leisure paths, landscaped beds, ponds, streets, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, storm drains, traffic signs, painting fire hydrants and street lights.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of secondary education or equivalent; one (1) to two (2) years of related experience in grounds keeping and/or general maintenance; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities; works overtime as required.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess a valid Ohio driver's license and maintain insurability under the Municipality's vehicles insurance policy.

INHERENTLY HAZARDOUS OR PHYSICALLY DEMANDING WORKING CONDITIONS:

Note: In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this is considered medium work.

JOB DUTIES in order of importance
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:For purposes of 42 USC 12101:
60%(1) Performs a variety of semi-skilled activities, including but not limited to: operate a variety of light and heavy equipment (e.g., pickup and dump truck, zero turn mowers, etc.) in the performance of park maintenance duties; vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance; maintain park amenities, including playground structures and shelters; apply various chemicals to grounds of the Municipality (e.g., fertilizer, herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, and aquatics, etc.), street and alley repair, repair/replace concrete curbs, sidewalks, traffic signs;vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance; setup and execution of community events; cemetery grave excavation and burial; assists with water breaks and drainage maintenance.
10%(2) Responsible for preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment; assists with maintenance to buildings when necessary; documents maintenance per department policy.
30%(3) Maintains proper conditions for athletic fields (e.g., mows, trims, weed eats, paints regulation lines, places goal boxes for games, etc.); painting street lights, fire hydrants, and fences.
(4) Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions.
(5) Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.

HOURLY RATE RANGE: $14.35 - $17.94
