Responsibilities

The Marketing Coordinator plays a central execution role on the marketing team, ensuring campaigns move from concept to completion in a way that drives attendance, engagement, and overall brand visibility. This position is responsible for producing and coordinating multi-channel marketing assets that promote experiences, events, and seasonal offerings. Acting as a key liaison between internal teams, external vendors, and media partners, the coordinator ensures timelines are met, assets are delivered, and campaigns are aligned with organizational goals.

Essential duties

The Marketing Coordinator leads campaigns and promotions that encourage guests to visit the Zoo and its related properties. This position brings marketing initiatives to life by coordinating advertising, managing content production, and ensuring projects move smoothly from planning to execution.

  • Campaign Production: Manage the production of radio, television, and digital advertising that promotes Zoo experiences, events, and seasonal offerings. Work with creative agencies, media partners, and internal teams to ensure campaigns are delivered on time and align with marketing goals focused on attendance and engagement.

  • Photo & Video Shoot Coordination: Plans and coordinates photo and video shoots that support marketing campaigns and promotional needs. Manage scheduling, logistics, and on-site coordination to help capture engaging visuals that encourage visitation.

  • Digital Asset Management: Maintain the organization's digital asset library, ensuring images, videos, and creative assets are organized, properly tagged, and accessible for marketing use.

  • Updates DAM portals for media partners, CVBs, and ad partners.

  • Prepares b-roll packages after each photo shoot and prepares video for paid PR appearances.

  • Promotional & Media Visit Support: Coordinate logistics related to promotional appearances, paid media opportunities, and visiting media partners. Prepare materials, assist with schedules, and support content capture tied to marketing promotions.

  • Media Systems & Advertising Support: Maintain organization and accuracy within marketing platforms by entering media plans, tracking placements, inputting invoices, and recording performance information from media partners. Assist with managing ticket trades and promotional partnerships.

  • Cross-Department Coordination: Collaborate with teams across the organization-including operations, events, partnerships, and more-to get assets approved before campaign launch.

Qualifications

  • Self-starter and able to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • High attention to detail, well-developed organizational skills, and strong problem-solving skills
  • Superior project, time and organizational management skills; experience with project management tools such as Monday.com, Asana, etc. preferred
  • Experience with graphic design or basic knowledge of design software (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.).
  • Data-driven and analytics savvy
  • Effective communication and persuasive skills, with the ability to build strong collaborative relationships across the organization

  • Demonstrates strong work ethic and moral standards

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience required.
  • Proven experience (5 years) in marketing, preferably in a coordinator or project management role.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Video editing experience preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to adhere to standard operating procedures including but not limited to safety protocols.
  • Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license and a good driving record.
  • Proof of negative TB screening prior to placement and annually thereafter.
  • Ability to successfully complete a criminal history background check annually.
  • Ability to adhere to the Columbus Zoo Family of Parks' drug-free workplace policy including but not limited to pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion and follow-up treatment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Incorporate environmentally responsible practices into daily work and marketing activities whenever possible, supporting the organization's conservation values.
