Sewer and Water Laborer - Plumber

Sewer & Water Construction Laborer / Underground Utility Worker (Residential Construction – Plainfield & Joliet, IL)

Civil Construction Services (CCS), based in Plainfield, Illinois, is hiring experienced Sewer & Water Construction Laborers / Underground Utility Workers to support residential new construction projects in the Plainfield and Joliet, IL areas.

We specialize in sewer and water service installations, underground utilities, and residential plumbing infrastructure. This role is ideal for candidates with experience in utility installation, trenching, pipe laying, or plumbing who are seeking steady, long-term work with a growing civil construction company.

Key Responsibilities

• Install residential sewer and water service lines for new construction homes
• Perform underground utility work including trenching, grading, and backfilling
• Assist with pipe installation (PVC, ductile iron, copper, HDPE)
• Operate construction tools and equipment such as skid steers, trenchers, and compactors
• Load and unload materials and support daily job site operations
• Maintain a safe and organized job site in compliance with OSHA standards
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in one or more of the following:
  • Sewer and water installation
  • Underground utilities
  • Civil construction
  • Plumbing (residential or commercial)

• Valid Illinois Driver’s License (required)
• Ability to perform physical labor including lifting, digging, and standing for extended periods
• Reliable, consistent attendance and strong work ethic
• Ability to work effectively as part of a crew

Preferred Qualifications

• CDL (Commercial Driver’s License)
• Experience operating skid steers, excavators, or trenching equipment
• Experience working on new residential construction sites
• Understanding of grading, elevations, or site preparation

Pay and Benefits
