Job Description

Location: Wichita, KS (Full-time in-office)

Compensation: $75,000 – $95,000 + Performance Bonus Opportunity

About Us Parrent LLC / Civil Construction is a growing, family-owned firm currently pivoting from a specialty concrete subcontractor to a full-service General Contractor for national retailers (Walmart, Tractor Supply, etc.). With $5M–$10M in annual revenue, we are at a pivotal stage of growth. We need a high-level financial strategist—a “hands-on” Controller—to build our financial infrastructure, manage our cash flow, and ensure we scale profitably.

The Role This is not a “desk-only” bookkeeping role. You will report directly to the owners and serve as the company’s financial lead. You will own the entire financial lifecycle—from job-costing and WIP schedules to managing our GC-level cash flow and identifying profit leaks in real-time.

What You Will Own:

  • Construction Financials: Full-cycle accounting, including complex percentage-of-completion reporting, WIP schedules, and job-cost variance analysis.

  • Cash Flow Engineering: Managing weekly 13-week cash-flow forecasts. You are the “early warning system” for our liquidity, ensuring we meet payroll, tax, and insurance obligations before they become crises.

  • Payroll & Taxes: Owning the end-to-end payroll process (for 40+ employees), including multi-state tax compliance, garnishments, and benefits administration.

  • Project Controls: Analyzing profit leaks, change order management, and ensuring billings (AIA) are optimized for cash collection.

  • A/R & A/P Strategy: Aggressive collections management, joint-check facilitation, and vendor relationship management.

  • Financial Reporting: Creating clear, actionable P&L reports by job, allowing ownership to make real-time decisions.

  • Compliance, Licensing & Risk Management: Managing multi-state sales/use tax and preparing year-end filings for outside CPAs. Ownership of all state and local contractor licenses, business registrations, and certifications across multiple jurisdictions. You will be responsible for ensuring we are compliant in every state we operate. Taking full ownership of the pre-qualification and vendor-setup process for national retailers (Walmart, Target, Tractor Supply, etc.) to ensure we remain in “good standing” to bid on future projects. Managing insurance renewals, certificates of insurance (COIs), and worker’s comp/bonding audits.

Required Experience & Skills:

  • 5+ years of Construction-Specific Accounting: Deep experience in commercial concrete subcontracting or GC environments is mandatory.

  • Technical Expertise: Mastery of QuickBooks Desktop, advanced Excel (modeling, lookups, pivot tables), and experience with construction-specific software (e.g., Procore, Foundation, Viewpoint).

  • GC-Level Knowledge: Strong understanding of AIA billing, retainage, multi-state compliance, and prevailing wage projects.

  • Leadership/Ownership Mentality: Ability to collaborate daily with project managers to keep jobs on budget. You aren’t just recording history; you are helping us write our financial future.

Who This Is NOT For:

  • If you have never managed a WIP report, this is not the right fit.

  • If you are looking for a routine 9-to-5 data entry position, please do not apply.

  • If you are uncomfortable with the fast-paced, sometimes unpredictable nature of construction finance, this role will not be a fit.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $75,000 – $95,000 (commensurate with experience).

  • Performance Bonus: Potential tied to company profitability and collection milestones.

  • Benefits: Health, Dental, Vision.

  • PTO + Paid Holidays.

How to Apply: Please submit your resume along with a brief summary of how you have previously managed a construction company’s cash flow during a growth or transition phase.
