K&K is seeking a passionate and highly motivated Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the development of facility infrastructure required for battery manufacturing and on-site suppliers.

This role focues on early-stage engineering planning, concept development, and innovative analysis for industrial building mechanical systems. The ideal candidate brings strong industrial facility experience and thrives in cross-functional collaboration environments.

Reporting to the PLE Advanced Planning & Innovation Manager, this position plays a critical role in ensuring safety, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency in construction planning and execution.

  • Provide technical expertise during early project planning and pre-construction phases

  • Support industrial building mechanical system design (HVAC, process piping, chilled water, compressed air, etc.)

  • Conduct engineering studies evaluating innovative technical solutions and their cost/schedule impacts

  • Research and benchmark industry best practices to enhance infrastructure design

  • Develop business cases, justifications, and management presentations

  • Collaborate cross-functionally across engineering, construction, operations, and supplier teams

  • Provide technical support through planning, design, and construction execution phases

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field
    OR
    5+ years of hands-on industrial mechanical systems experience

  • 5+ years of experience in building design, construction, or facility operations

  • 5+ years working with industrial mechanical systems including:

    • HVAC

    • Process piping

    • Chilled water systems

    • Compressed air systems

  • 3+ years of reporting and presentation experience

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Visio)

  • Professional Engineering (PE) License

  • Experience with Energy/Building Management Systems, SCADA, fire alarm systems

  • Industrial chemical systems experience (wastewater, tank farms, process utilities)

  • Experience working in battery, automotive, chemical, or large manufacturing facilities

  • Familiarity with:

    • Power BI

    • Bluebeam Revu

    • Navisworks

    • AutoCAD

  • Certifications such as ASHRAE, CEM, LEED AP, PMP

  • Strong problem-solving mindset with a passion for continuous improvement (kaizen)
