About Your Role
CMTS is seeking a highly motivated Public Works / Civil Inspector to support infrastructure and public works construction projects in Portland, OR. This role is responsible for inspecting construction activities, ensuring compliance with plans and specifications, maintaining accurate documentation, and supporting safe and efficient project delivery in the field.
Education Requirements
• High School Diploma
What You'll Need to Get the Job Done
• Knowledge of administration of public works construction contracts
• Understanding of construction methods, materials, installation practices, and field procedures
• Familiarity with construction equipment, tools, and safety requirements
• Understanding of construction surveying practices and requirements
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work multiple shifts as needed
• Proficiency with computer software for documentation and reporting
What Will Make You Stand Out
• State or County issued Inspector License
• Experience with large diameter pipe installation
• Experience with site civil structural and reinforced concrete
• Knowledge of erosion control measures
• Experience with water and/or wastewater pipe installations
What You'll Do
• Read and interpret survey notes and perform survey-related computations
• Review and interpret construction plans, specifications, codes, and contracts
• Perform calculations related to construction quantities, progress, and costs
• Maintain daily construction records and prepare reports
• Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with project requirements
• Ensure contractor, personnel, and public safety on-site
• Coordinate with contractors, inspectors, and project teams
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with field staff and stakeholders
• Communicate effectively with contractors, community members, and project teams to resolve issues

• $35 - $45 per hour
