A healthcare facility in the Syracuse, NY area is seeking an experienced Food Service Director to oversee daily dietary operations. This leadership role is responsible for managing kitchen staff, maintaining food quality and sanitation standards, and ensuring residents receive meals that meet prescribed dietary requirements.
Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and supervising food service staff; creating schedules and assisting with department payroll preparation as needed; overseeing food storage, inventory, and ordering; and ensuring cleanliness of kitchen, dining, and storage areas in compliance with health regulations. The Food Service Director will inspect resident trays for menu accuracy, assist with meal service when necessary, coordinate food preparation for special events, and provide staff training and orientation.
Candidates must possess a Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) certification and a high school diploma or equivalent. ServSafe or Sodexo certification is preferred. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of large-scale and therapeutic food preparation, demonstrated supervisory experience, effective communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
