Lead Teacher (Toddler & 2-Year-Old Classroom)

Perfect Harmony Preschool is located in Suitland, MD and serves children from 12 months - 5 years old.

Seeking a full-time teacher for a multi-aged (15 - 35 months) class who enjoys guiding the growth and development of young children in a well-rounded environment. This teacher will interact with students and parents, facilitate daily instruction, and maintain classroom order and student safety.  Perfect Harmony’s hours are 6:45am – 5:00pm and teachers work a 40-hour week. The scheduled hours for this position are 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with a 1-hour lunch break. The successful candidate will work closely with the director, aides, and other center staff to meet the individual needs of the children and families in their classroom.

Responsibilities and Duties

Develop and implement weekly age-appropriate lesson plans for the children’s physical, mental, and emotional development levels according to classroom curriculum

Lead all or part of daily lessons, transitions, and group activities

Supervise children according to licensing guidelines to ensure their safety at all times

Monitor indoor and outdoor play times

*Maintain classroom environment, appearance, and cleanliness according to MSDE OCC regulations and company policies and procedures

*Ensuring the daily care of every child by following all licensing guidelines and implementing all company standards.

Record and track students' developmental and educational progress.

Complete daily report sheets to provide parents with adequate information about their child's experiences at the center 

Serve breakfast, lunch and snacks.

Participate in and assist with enrichment classes, field trips, special events, etc.

Attend staff meetings to remain up to date on center policies

Complete annual continuing education/professional development training to meet licensing and accreditation requirements.

Report directly to Director/Owner or Lead Teacher

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or Related Fields
  • Health and Safety Training
  • Pass MSDE approved background check and medical examination
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet program staffing needs
  • Have reliable transportation 
  • Willing to participate in MSDE Credentialing program 
  • Must be physically able to perform the job of a teacher of young children including continuous standing and lift up to 35 lbs. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • First Aid/CPR training or willing to receive training
