Job Description
Piedmont Small Animal Practice, located in the heart of Northern Virginia’s renowned horse country, is seeking a full-time General Practice Veterinarian to join our growing team.
Established in 2016, our practice currently includes two full-time and three part-time clinicians. We are looking to add additional full-time veterinarians to support continued growth and maintain our commitment to high-quality, individualized patient care. Scheduling is flexible and can be tailored to align with clinical interests, with a strong emphasis on fostering healthy work–life integration.
Position Overview
The majority of daily responsibilities include wellness and sick-patient appointments. Surgical procedures and urgent care cases are shared on a rotating basis. Our doctors work a four-day work week with rotating Saturday coverage.
Hospital Hours:
- Monday–Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
- Saturday: 8:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Caseload & Clinical Opportunities
We serve a diverse patient population, including family dogs and cats, working dogs, and barn/feral cats. There is opportunity to expand services to include pocket pets and exotics for candidates with interest or experience in these areas.
One of our veterinarians has advanced training in acupuncture and chiropractic care. We also collaborate with local, board-certified internal medicine and orthopedic specialists who provide on-site support.
Our skilled support team includes:
- 2 full-time LVTs
- 7 Veterinary Assistants
- 5 Customer Service Representatives
Ownership is committed to continual investment in equipment and facility improvements to enhance patient care and expand service offerings.

Location
Northern Virginia offers exceptional quality of life, blending rural charm with metropolitan access. Washington, D.C. is just one hour east, while Shenandoah National Park and the Blue Ridge Mountains are approximately 40 minutes west. The region boasts museums, Civil War battlefields, wineries, breweries, shopping, hiking, and fishing.
For equestrian enthusiasts, the area is home to seven active fox hunts, numerous horse shows and competitions within an hour’s drive, and access to internationally recognized instructors across multiple disciplines. Salary is commensurate with experience. Signing bonus and relocation assistance are negotiable.

Qualifications
Qualified candidates must possess:
- DVM (or equivalent)
- Successful completion of the NAVLE
- Eligibility for Virginia state licensure
