TITLE: Bus Mechanic
QUALIFICATIONS:
1.Must have high school diploma, GED, or equivalent or technical training and experience.
2.Class B commercial drivers license (CDL) approved by the Ohio State Highway Patrol with school bus endorsement.
3.Must be mechanically inclined and possess the ability to disassemble and rebuild gasoline and diesel equipment.
REPORT TO: Director of Transportation
JOB GOALS: Be a self-motivator, self-efficient, and maintain the district facilities and equipment in good operational order.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Possess a CDL/Class B license to drive a school bus and test vehicles.
2.Possess the ability to drive a 1—speed axle dump truck with snow blade and salt spreader, a front-end loader, and a backhoe.
3.Possess welding skills.
4.Possess the ability to test and repair air and hydraulic brake systems.
5.Possess the ability to test, maintain, and repair diesel and gasoline systems.
6.Possess the ability to make minor body repairs and painting.
7.Inspect entire vehicles, test drive, and make necessary adjustments and repairs prior to returning vehicles to service.
8.Performance preventative maintenance on all district vehicles and equipment such as oil changes, grease jobs, and part replacement to insure proper and safe operation.
9.Maintain necessary and appropriate files.
10.Possess the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the public.
11.Provide a clean and safe garage area.
12.Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
1.Report any problems or concerns with staff or any vehicle to the supervisor.
2.Answer the phone, take messages, and call substitutes during normal working hours.
3.Maintain and service Board of Education vehicles and equipment.
4.Carry out the directions of the supervisor in his absence.
5.Perform other job related duties that are assigned.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel and provisions of the bargaining unit.
