Job Summary
Job Description
Introduction
Our client is a privately owned, non-profit veterinary hospital seeking an Associate Veterinarian, with optional Medical Director opportunities for those interested in leadership. As the oldest veterinary hospital structurally in the area, the practice has a strong legacy in the community and is now actively working toward modernizing the facility, services, and technology while maintaining the trusted reputation it has built over decades.
Working Hours / Rota
The hospital is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and is closed on weekends. This is a full-time position, with flexibility around scheduling depending on the needs of the incoming veterinarian. The practice plans to continue operating five days per week and there are no after-hours or weekend requirements. The hospital is very open to discussing scheduling preferences to ensure the role works well for the veterinarian. A house can also be offered for the veterinarian to live in, with a corresponding adjustment to compensation if preferred.
Role Description and Responsibilities
This role is ideal for an experienced veterinarian who is looking for autonomy and the opportunity to play a meaningful role in the development and growth of a practice. As the sole veterinarian, you will have the freedom to take on as much responsibility as you would like, whether focusing purely on clinical work or becoming more involved in operational and leadership responsibilities. Clinical duties include all aspects of general practice such as surgery, dentistry, wellness care, preventive medicine, routine appointments, and general internal medicine. The hospital is actively seeking a veterinarian who can help modernize the clinic, rebuild its presence in the community, and take advantage of the strong business potential in a busy area. The practice is also very open to veterinarians who have specific professional interests, welcoming the opportunity to expand services or even introduce additional species over time if that aligns with the incoming doctor's passions and skills. If desired, the veterinarian can take on a more leadership-focused role, contributing to decisions around the day-to-day running of the clinic and future recruitment. However, these additional responsibilities are optional, and the owners are happy to manage them if the veterinarian prefers to remain focused on clinical work.
Practice Details
The hospital is well equipped and continues to invest in modern technology. Recent equipment upgrades include a brand-new digital X-ray machine, dental suite, monitoring equipment, a Butterfly ultrasound, and a new anesthesia machine. The owners are highly supportive of further investment and are open to purchasing additional equipment or expanding services in line with the veterinarian's clinical interests. While the hospital is the oldest veterinary facility structurally in the area, there is a clear commitment to modernizing the clinic, including updating equipment, improving workflows, and implementing new computer systems over time. The hospital currently offers a full range of general practice services, including spays and neuters, surgery, dentistry, vaccinations, preventive care, and routine medical care, with plenty of room to grow additional services.
Team
The incoming veterinarian will join as the sole DVM, with the goal of rebuilding and expanding a client base that was once very well established in the community. The hospital is supported by a dedicated and growing team that currently includes one full-time kennel technician, 2.5 veterinary assistants, two front desk team members, and a hospital manager who will be joining the team soon. The team is enthusiastic about the hospital's modernization plans and eager to support a veterinarian who values autonomy and wants to help shape the future direction of the practice.
