Introduction
Our client is an AAHA-accredited veterinary hospital seeking an Emergency Veterinarian to join their full-time team in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. The hospital provides comprehensive general practice alongside emergency and urgent care services, treating companion animals as well as exotic species including reptiles and amphibians. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic, high-quality medical environment where collaboration and patient-focused care are central to everything they do.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital offers wellness appointments Monday to Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Emergency and urgent care services operate seven days a week from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The position is full-time and exact scheduling is flexible and open to discussion.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Emergency Veterinarian will manage a diverse caseload that includes same-day urgent visits and emergency presentations, alongside opportunities to support general practice care. Clinical responsibilities include performing thorough examinations, diagnostics, treatment planning, client communication, and medical decision-making for urgent and critical cases. The role allows for hands-on involvement in soft tissue and ophthalmic surgery, foreign body removal, pain management, dentistry, and preventive care, with exposure to exotic pet medicine. Veterinarians work closely with the technical team and fellow doctors, collaborating on cases to ensure high-quality outcomes and continuous clinical growth. The role is open to both new graduate and experienced veterinarians.

Practice Details
The hospital is AAHA accredited and equipped to support advanced general practice and emergency medicine. Diagnostic and treatment equipment includes digital radiography, CT imaging, ultrasound, and a fully equipped in-house laboratory capable of bloodwork, urinalysis, clotting times, blood gases, and infectious disease testing. Services offered include wellness exams, vaccinations, spay and neuter, puppy and kitten care, senior and geriatric care, dentistry, soft-tissue and ophthalmic surgery, urgent and emergency care, and exotic pet services. The practice culture emphasizes collaboration, continuous learning, shared case management, and maintaining high medical standards while supporting team wellbeing.

Team
The team includes five DVMs working in a collaborative and supportive environment. Doctors and support staff work closely together, encouraging mentorship, open communication, and shared responsibility across both general practice and emergency cases, creating a positive and professionally rewarding workplace.

Candidate Requirements

  • Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
  • Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
  • Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
