Director of Composites

Responsibilities:

• Lead daily operations of the lamination department to ensure safety, quality, and production goals are achieved.
• Supervise department staff and coordinate activities with team leaders and supervisors.
• Work closely with manufacturing engineering to improve production processes and operational flow.
• Ensure production schedules are met through efficient utilization of personnel, equipment, and materials.
• Monitor production metrics and implement improvements to increase department efficiency.
• Maintain strong communication with other production managers, quality teams, and product development teams.
• Collaborate with upstream and downstream departments to ensure operational needs are met.
• Ensure preventative maintenance schedules are followed and maintained for equipment.
• Inspect production output to verify conformance to quality standards and specifications
• Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules and operational goals.
• Lead employee performance management including training, development, evaluation, and discipline.
• Promote a culture of safety awareness and enforce safety standards across the department.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and recommend changes to production methods or equipment.
• Support strategic operational initiatives with the leadership team.
• Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to coordinate departmental activities.

Required Experience:

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience working with gelcoat, fiberglass lamination, or composite manufacturing processes.
• Experience leading teams and managing production staff in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of open and closed molding processes and composite manufacturing techniques.
• Experience implementing process improvements and efficiency initiatives.
• Understanding of quality systems and manufacturing standards.
• Ability to troubleshoot production or process issues and implement corrective actions.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work across departments and organizational levels.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and basic data analysis.
• Basic mathematical aptitude.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
