Job Description

Location: Jackson Hole, WY
Company: Ridgeline Excavation

Build real projects in some of the most unique mountain communities in the country.

Ridgeline is a civil construction company led by a civil engineer with bigproject, Kiewit experience - the kind that values planning, production, and accountability in the field. We lean into technology and innovation and operate as a highasset, fleetenabled company as our market differentiator.

We believe great projects aren’t managed from spreadsheets alone. They’re won by:

  • Understanding means and methods
  • Planning around equipment and production
  • Showing up early, prepared, and accountable
  • Leading crews with clarity and respect

If you’ve worked in - or admired - organizations where execution mattered as much as design, you’ll recognize the DNA here.  This isn’t a corporate PM role. It’s a role for engineers and builders who want responsibility, trust, and a place where their decisions actually build projects.

What Makes This Role Different

  • Engineer-led company with disciplined planning and execution
  • PMs are respected field leaders
  • Leadership experience rooted in Kiewit-style execution standards
  • Heavy emphasis on in-house equipment utilization
  • Projects driven by production modeling - production rates, fleet capacity, and sequencing
  • Tight-knit team operating in a highaccountability environment

Culture & Mindset Fit. We value people who:

  • Take ownership and finish what they start
  • Think like builders, not just managers
  • Are competitive about results, not ego
  • Thrive in team environments

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Execution

  • Lead projects from preconstruction through closeout with full ownership of scope, schedule, cost, and execution strategy.
  • Translate plans into executable work packages that align crews, equipment, and sequencing.
  • Maintain strong alignment between field operations and office planning.

Planning, Modeling & Means-and-Methods

  • Planning and estimating civil projects, including infrastructure, utilities, roads, excavation, and grading.
  • Develop detailed project plans that integrate equipment selection, production rates, haul cycles, phasing, and labor needs.
  • Model project performance using quantities, durations, and fleet utilization - adjusting plans proactively as conditions change.
  • Partner with field leadership to continuously refine means and methods.

Budgeting, Cost Control & Forecasting

  • Build and manage project budgets with clear cost codes tied to production.
  • Track job costs, quantities, and productivity; produce accurate forecasts and cost-to-complete projections.
  • Lead change management - identifying, pricing, and negotiating changes clearly and professionally.

Equipment & Asset Management

  • Plan and optimize use of Ridgeline’s owned fleet to maximize efficiency and return on assets.
  • Coordinate equipment scheduling, logistics, and maintenance considerations with operations.
  • Understand that equipment is a core driver of project success, not just a line item.

Client, Engineer & Agency Coordination

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for owners, engineers, inspectors, and agencies.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, schedules, and documentation to maintain momentum and compliance.
  • Lead project meetings with clarity, preparation, and confidence.

Field Presence, Safety & Quality

  • Maintain regular jobsite presence and strong relationships with foremen and operators.
  • Enforce safety standards through leadership and accountability.
  • Ensure work meets plans, specifications, and Ridgeline quality expectations.

Team Development & Culture

  • Mentor Project Engineers and Coordinators in planning, cost control, and field integration.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, preparation, and mutual respect.
  • Lead with consistency - calm under pressure, decisive when it counts.

Qualifications

Required

  • Proven experience managing civil, infrastructure, utility, and large excavation projects.
  • Strong understanding of means and methods, sequencing, and production-driven planning.
  • Ability to lead field teams and communicate effectively with engineers, clients, and operators.
  • Comfort making decisions in dynamic field conditions.

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering
  • Experience in equipment-intensive, self-perform environments.
  • Familiarity with production modeling, cost forecasting, and schedule logic.
  • Mountain or winter construction experience.

What You’ll Do

  • Own projects from preconstruction through closeout: scope, schedule, cost, and execution
  • Plan and execute work around means & methods, equipment, production rates, and sequencing
  • Lead foremen, operators, subcontractors, and vendors with clear expectations
  • Manage budgets, job costs, forecasting, and change orders
  • Coordinate with clients, engineers, inspectors, and local agencies
  • Maintain strong jobsite presence with a focus on safety, quality, and productivity
  • Model and adjust project plans based on realtime field conditions and production data
