Medical Billing Specialist | 6+ months, Temporary | Larkspur, CA | $23-$27/hour

We are seeking an experienced Medical Billing Specialist to join a highly regarded and well-established healthcare organization. In this role, you will support day to day revenue cycle operations and play a key part in ensuring accurate charge capture, claims processing, and timely reimbursement across assigned specialties. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented billing professional who enjoys working collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Location: 100% onsite in Larkspur, CA

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am to 5pm (slight flexibility possible)

Pay Range: $23-$27/hour (DOE)

Start Date: Within 1-2 weeks of offer

Employment Type: Temporary (6+ months) with potential to convert to permanent

Background Check: Clear criminal background check and drug screen (including cannabis)

Medical Billing Specialist Responsibilities:

Coordinate full cycle medical billing for assigned specialties

Ensure accurate charge capture and reconciliation of billing activity

Review and work revenue cycle work queues on a daily basis

Prepare, review, and submit claims and itemized bills with a high level of accuracy

Perform quality control checks to support prompt and correct payment

Serve as a billing resource to clinical and non-clinical staff

Communicate with coding vendors regarding procedures as needed

Review billing and reconciliation reports and escalate discrepancies appropriately

Support process improvements and maintain strong attention to detail

Perform related duties as assigned

Medical Billing Specialist Qualifications:

Minimum 3 years of medical billing experience

Strong working knowledge of ICD 10 CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding

Experience with insurance payors, eligibility, and prior authorizations

Familiarity with Epic/Apex or similar billing systems preferred

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)

Coding certification preferred (not required)

Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet daily deadlines
