Betts Law Group is seeking a Firm Administrator to oversee the daily operations of our growing litigation firm. Our firm is entering a significant growth phase. We are expanding our caseload, moving into a larger office this year, and actively expanding our team.
We are looking for an experienced Firm Administrator to oversee staff management, human resources, and internal firm structure. This role is responsible for supervising employees, managing recruiting and employee relations, implementing policies and procedures, and ensuring the firm operates with professionalism and accountability. This role works closely with firm leadership and requires someone who is organized, proactive, and comfortable managing both people and operational systems.

This role works closely with firm leadership and has significant autonomy and ownership.
Many operational systems are already in place, but they need to be expanded, improved, and formalized as the firm grows. The right person will enjoy identifying operational gaps, implementing solutions, and helping build the infrastructure that allows a professional organization to scale.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Human Resources
- Supervise and support firm employees, including attorneys, intake staff, and legal support staff
- Reinforce firm policies, expectations, and professional standards
- Address performance concerns and assist with corrective action when necessary
- Handle employee conflicts professionally and maintain a productive team environment
- Lead recruiting efforts including job postings, resume screening, and first-round interviews
- Manage onboarding and offboarding processes for new team members
- Maintain personnel records and HR documentation in compliance with California employment requirements
- Support employee review processes and ongoing staff development
- Serve as the in-office leadership presence when firm leadership is in court or out of the office
Operations, Systems & Office Management
- Manage day-to-day office logistics, vendors, utilities, and supplies
- Coordinate office technology and outside IT support
- Maintain firm subscriptions, insurance policies, and operational accounts
- Track and maintain inventory of firm equipment and technology
- Develop and maintain written operational procedures and internal documentation
- Build and maintain SOPs using systems
- Improve workflow clarity, accountability, and operational consistency across the firm
- Identify recurring operational issues and implement structured solutions
- Assist with evaluating and implementing operational software and systems
Administrative Finance & Firm Operations
- Track operational expenses and administrative overhead
- Coordinate with bookkeeping and payroll systems
- Assist leadership with operational budgeting and cost visibility
- Support payroll coordination and administrative reporting as needed
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in law firm administration, HR/people operations, or professional office management
- Experience supervising employees and supporting performance management
- Experience participating in hiring and recruiting processes
- Experience developing written procedures or internal operational systems
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Professional discretion when handling confidential matters
- Ability to work independently and anticipate operational needs
- Experience in a law firm or professional services environment is strongly preferred
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salaried Exempt: $90,000 - $120,000+ DOE
- 401k Match: Up to 4% employer match of 5% contribution with Fidelity 401k
- Health Insurance: Comprehensive coverage to include Health, Vision and Dental at 85% covered by the firm for employee
- Paid Time Off (PTO): 2 weeks
- Bonus Paid Week Off: Between Christmas and New Year annually, set by firm in January of each calendar year.
- Paid Holidays: 10 paid Federal holidays.
- Cell Phone Stipend: $50 monthly
