Position Overview Thayer Power & Communication is seeking a detail-oriented GIS Technician with experience using Vetro FiberMap, 3GIS, and ESRI ArcGIS to support electric utility and telecom projects. This role involves creating, maintaining, and analyzing geospatial data to ensure accurate network design, asset management, and project execution. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of GIS principles, fiber network mapping, and data integrity standards. Key Responsibilities Create and update GIS maps for electric utility and fiber network projects using Vetro FiberMap, 3GIS, and ESRI ArcGIS. Maintain accurate geospatial data for transmission, distribution, and fiber assets. Import, validate, and manage data from multiple sources (field surveys, engineering designs, as-built drawings). Generate reports, maps, and visualizations to support engineering, permitting, and construction teams. Ensure data integrity and compliance with client and industry standards. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to provide timely GIS updates. Assist in troubleshooting and resolving GIS-related issues during project execution. Support integration of GIS data with other platforms and systems as needed. Follow established GIS workflows, data standards, and procedures Qualifications Education: Associate or Bachelors degree in GIS, Geography, Engineering, or related field. Experience: 2+ years of GIS experience, in electric utility or telecom projects. Hands-on experience with Vetro FiberMap and ESRI ArcGIS required. Experience with 3GIS is a plus. Skills: Proficiency in GIS based software and data management tools. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain data accuracy.
