Sheet Metal Fabricator / Installer

Melton Sheet Metal is seeking a skilled, experienced, and motivated Sheet Metal Fabricator/Installer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and installing sheet metal components with precision and efficiency. Your expertise will help ensure the successful completion of construction projects by ensuring that all work meets safety standards, quality specifications, and industry codes, and by maintaining customer satisfaction. Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to accurately fabricate and assemble sheet metal components
• Operate power tools, hand tools, press brake machines, and other fabrication equipment to shape and form sheet metal parts
• Use calipers, micrometers, and other measuring devices to ensure precise dimensions and tolerances in fabrication work
• Perform MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), and welding techniques to join metal parts securely according to welding codes & standards
• Fabricate ductwork, piping, and other custom metal assemblies for construction or manufacturing projects
• Install fabricated components on-site using crane operations, rigging equipment, forklifts, and other lifting devices while adhering to safety protocols.
•  Conduct quality checks on finished products using schematics and basic math skills to verify accuracy before installation
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace while following safety procedures related to construction site work and welding operations

Requirements

•  Proven construction site experience with a strong understanding of building codes and safety regulations.
•  Proficiency in MIG, TIG, FCAW welding techniques; experience with welding preferred
•  Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately.
•  Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, plasma cutting equipment, press brake machines, and machining tools.
• Knowledge of rigging practices, crane operation, pipe threading, soldering, and assembly processes
•  Mechanical aptitude with basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to fabrication tasks. 

• Experience working with ductwork or sheet metal in manufacturing or construction environments is highly desirable.
•  Valid certification in welding or fabrication-related disciplines is a plus; familiarity with ASME codes & standards is advantageous.
•  Ability to work safely at heights using scaffolding or ladders; physically capable of lifting heavy materials as required.
