CNC Lathe Operator-Set Up and Operation

Responsibilities:

• Plan machining operations by studying work orders, blueprints, materials, specifications, reference planes, and machining parameters.
• Interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
• Program, set up, and operate CNC lathes and work centers.
• Develop and write CNC programs from prints.
• Program lathes, set tool offsets, and assist with fixture design.
• Maintain close tolerances of +/- .0005.
• Verify machine settings by measuring positions and inspecting first-run parts.
• Edit existing CNC programs as necessary.
• Input CNC programs from a PC into the machine.
• Maintain safe operations by following safety procedures and regulations.
• Monitor tools during operation for wear and breakage.
• Maintain quality standards and keep accurate production records.
• Maintain equipment and supplies as needed.

Required Experience:

• Experience programming, setting up, and operating CNC lathes.
• Experience reading blueprints and interpreting GD&T.
• Experience with Mori-Seiki Y-axis machines preferred.
• Knowledge of CAPS (Mori) programming is a plus.
• Experience with live tooling highly preferred.
• Ability to read micrometers and use inspection equipment.
• Ability to sharpen tools is a plus.
• Strong functional and technical machining skills.
• High attention to detail.
• Ability to lift up to 100 lbs with assistance.
