Night Dispatch Manager

Responsibilities:

• Supervise and coordinate night-time freight dispatch, ensuring timely pickups and deliveries.
• Communicate with drivers, carriers, vendors, and customers using Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and GPS tools.
• Track fleet movements through GIS and GPS systems to optimize routes, schedules, and operational efficiency.
• Maintain accurate shipment, driver log, and freight data entry in systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine.
• Manage multi-line phone communications with professionalism and clear messaging.
• Oversee shipping and receiving documentation while collaborating with warehouse teams on freight status.
• Analyze operational processes to troubleshoot issues and recommend improvements for dispatch efficiency.
• Provide input and recommendations regarding driver hiring, promotions, terminations, and performance management.
• Make informed decisions to meet business needs, including contacting shop personnel or vendors for breakdowns or repairs.
• Handle accident and injury calls, assessing situations and determining appropriate actions.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support overall transportation operations.

Skills/Qualifications:

• Proven experience in transportation management, logistics, or dispatch roles with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with GIS, GPS technology, transportation planning tools, and supply chain principles.
• Hands-on experience with Transportation Management Systems (e.g., Oracle TMS) or similar platforms.
• Knowledge of freight coordination, shipping and receiving procedures, fleet management software (e.g., AS400), and third-party logistics (3PL) providers.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, professional phone etiquette, and accurate data entry capabilities.
• Ability to efficiently operate multi-line phone systems while managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and typing proficiency for precise documentation in SyteLine or equivalent systems.
