Our client, a leading organization in the food processing and commodities trading industry, is seeking a Senior Payroll Analyst to join their team. As a Senior Payroll Analyst, you will be part of the Finance Department supporting payroll accounting and financial analysis. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and collaborative spirit, which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: Senior Financial Analyst (Payroll)

Location: Decatur, IL - Hybrid (initial onsite training required; periodic onsite presence may be needed for long-term growth opportunities)

Pay Range: $45-55/hr. on W2 (negotiable depending on experience). Upon conversion, salary up to $120K.

Job Type: 12-month Contract to Hire

What's the Job?

  • Oversee the preparation and review of payroll-related journal entries, including benefit accruals and other accounting adjustments, prior to posting in the general ledger.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of payroll, tax, and benefit balance sheet accounts to identify inconsistencies and recommend process enhancements.
  • Evaluate and interpret benefit and pension activity, ensuring reporting aligns with relevant accounting requirements and disclosure standards.
  • Serve as a primary contact during internal and external audits, supplying supporting documentation and assisting with remediation efforts.
  • Maintain and enhance standard operating procedures (SOPs) tied to payroll accounting and related processes.

What's Needed?

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in payroll accounting or related financial roles.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll and benefits systems, processes, and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly.
