The essential responsibilities of the Engineer 3- District will report to the Supervisor. Apply established engineering principles in the design of electric, gas and water facilities for residential/ commercial customers in assigned district. Design electric, gas, and water facilities for residential/ commercial customers. Prepare drawings, material specifications/ costs and layout methods. Provide system information and technical assistance to customers, consultants, developers, and contractors; prepare estimates, work authorizations and procedures for field personnel to ensure compliance with federal/ state regulations and MLGW policies. Perform various types of computer analysis- for assigned district; train assigned district employees in use of computer-aided design. Assist in the preparation and maintenance of manuals, policies, procedures, and other pertinent documents. Review/ approve design work performed by district employees; provide technical assistance such as voltage/ flow drop calculations, fuse sizing, alternate designs, etc., as required. Coordinate district work with other areas/ departments within the Division, govern mental agencies and contractors. Make field trips to gather data, take measurements and/or inspect/ observe utility construction. Stay abreast of up-to-date developments in engineering; maintain library of industry related materials. Perform other duties as directed.
Qualifications Qualification Requirements:
To perform the Engineer 3- District role, you must:
-Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering or in a related field.
-Experience requirements will vary according to departmental needs.
-Must have an occupationally significant combination of leadership qualities to motivate and direct employees; organizational ability; oral and written communication skills; ability to apply engineering principles and methods; spatial and form perception; mathematical ability; and attention to detail. -Must have a valid driver's license from state of residence.
Physical Working Conditions:
Requires work involving standing or walking for long periods, exerting up to 50 pounds or more of force on a regular basis.
