This role oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of crude oil movements across pipelines and other transportation channels while managing a team responsible for daily supply scheduling activities.

The position plays a critical role in ensuring crude supply reliability, optimizing logistics costs, maintaining inventory targets, and identifying commercial opportunities within pipeline tariffs, grade swaps, and scheduling strategies. The Manager will work cross-functionally with trading, refinery operations, logistics, and midstream partners to maximize crude value and operational efficiency.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee all crude oil scheduling activities and movements across pipeline, rail, truck, and terminal systems.
  • Manage daily crude oil supply logistics to ensure timely delivery to refinery operations and alignment with supply plans.
  • Supervise and develop scheduling personnel to ensure operational efficiency, accuracy, and productivity.
  • Coordinate with trading, refinery operations, and optimization teams to align crude supply with refinery demand and crude slate requirements.
  • Monitor daily crude movements, inventory levels, and supply positions across multiple facilities.
  • Maintain appropriate companywide crude oil inventories and communicate any imbalances or operational impacts.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and third-party partners to ensure efficient pipeline and logistics utilization.
  • Maintain working relationships with suppliers, exchange partners, pipeline companies, terminal operators, and logistics providers.
  • Oversee crude quality monitoring to ensure compliance with pipeline specifications and refinery requirements.
  • Support import and export logistics coordination, including interaction with customs brokers and regulatory parties.
  • Identify and execute opportunities to enhance commercial value through scheduling optimization, pipeline tariffs, time trades, and grade swaps.
  • Partner with logistics teams to coordinate crude movements across multiple transportation modes when pipeline delivery is unavailable.
  • Participate in evaluation of logistics or supply chain improvement projects.
  • Identify operational or commercial opportunities to improve crude procurement and movement efficiency.
  • Serve as a key liaison between scheduling, trading, refinery operations, logistics, and external partners.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10 years of experience in the petroleum or energy industry.
  • 5 years of experience in crude oil scheduling, supply logistics, or related commercial operations.
  • Strong understanding of crude oil supply chains, refinery operations, and logistics infrastructure including pipelines, terminals, rail, and trucking.
  • Notable experience managing scheduling teams or supervising operational personnel.
  • Knowledge of crude oil inventory management, pipeline apportionment, and logistics constraints.
  • Ability to manage complex operational scenarios including off-spec crude, refinery demand shifts, logistics disruptions, and force majeure events.
  • Ability to identify commercial optimization opportunities within crude logistics systems.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across commercial, operations, logistics, and external partner groups.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and common scheduling or logistics systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Full-time onsite, office-based role with up to 30% travel.
  • Regular interaction with refinery, terminal, and midstream operations environments.
