Product Engineer

Responsibilities:

• Partner with customers to define project scope, technical requirements, and performance expectations; lead design reviews and support product validation activities.
• Collaborate with Sales, Manufacturing (across two locations), Engineering, and customers to ensure project alignment and successful execution.
• Develop detailed 2D and 3D product designs using SolidWorks, ensuring compatibility with manufacturing capabilities, capacity, and core competencies.
• Conduct internal, customer, and supplier design reviews to ensure product feasibility and performance.
• Create multi-cavity design models to support tool design and fabrication.
• Participate in manufacturing process development and implementation.
• Develop manufacturing work instructions and process control documentation.
• Support and lead continuous improvement initiatives in partnership with manufacturing teams.
• Troubleshoot product and process issues, determine root cause, and implement effective corrective actions with proper documentation.
• Coordinate and conduct product validation testing, including dimensional verification and documentation.
• Support new technology research and evaluation initiatives.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
• Maintain an ongoing personal development plan to enhance technical and professional skills.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Travel up to 20% as required to support business objectives.

Skills/Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree (BS) in a technical discipline from an accredited institution with a minimum of three (3) years of product design experience using SolidWorks.
• An Associate degree (AA/AT) may be considered with extensive demonstrated product design experience.
• Experience designing consumer-based products is required; experience with molded pulp fiber products is preferred.
• Strong proficiency in SolidWorks, including detailed 2D/3D modeling, dimensioning, and tolerance creation.
• SolidWorks certification (intermediate level or higher) preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings and blueprints.
• Experience with SolidWorks PDM is a plus.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and the ability to identify potential design or tooling issues.
• Knowledge of tool construction and fabrication techniques preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Experience with Epicor and Mastercam is a plus.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects while supporting day-to-day manufacturing needs.
• High sense of urgency balanced with strong attention to detail.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders to meet project deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build trust and foster positive working relationships with customers, suppliers, and colleagues.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, including root cause analysis and sound decision-making under pressure.
