Job Description


The Quality Engineer (QE) ensures the overall quality, reliability, and compliance of Isuzu's light- and medium-duty commercial vehicles, including gasoline, diesel, and electric models. This role drives product and process quality excellence across manufacturing, testing, and field performance by applying structured quality planning, data analysis, and problem-solving.

Working cross-functionally with manufacturing, product engineering, supplier quality, and field service, the QE leads root cause investigations, ensures robust control systems, and drives continuous improvement to maintain compliance with ISO/IATF standards and customer requirements.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Leads quality planning and execution for new vehicle programs from concept through full production, managing APQP and PPAP deliverables including FMEAs, control plans, process flow diagrams, capability studies, and design reviews.
  • Defines, implements, and maintains control plans, inspection methods, testing standards, and measurement systems (MSA) to ensure process stability and product conformity.
  • Leads root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions using 8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa, and PDCA methodologies.
  • Monitors and analyzes key quality metrics (PPM, first-pass yield, scrap, rework, and warranty returns) and drives improvement initiatives to achieve department targets.
  • Collaborates with design, manufacturing, supplier quality, and field service teams to identify, contain, and resolve quality issues.
  • Supports supplier quality management through audits, corrective actions, performance evaluations, and compliance verification with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 standards.
  • Facilitates quality gates, risk assessments, and change control processes for new models, design updates, and process changes.
  • Leads failure analysis, validation testing, and verification of corrective actions to confirm long-term effectiveness.
  • Drives continuous improvement projects (Kaizen, Lean, Six Sigma) to prevent defects, reduce variation, and enhance product quality.
  • Provides technical mentoring to engineers and production staff on quality tools, methods, and best practices, and prepares reports and dashboards summarizing performance and trends.
  • Supports customer and field investigations related to warranty or product returns.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
